Fluid Mechanics section 
Experiments like calibration of various flow measuring devices, measurements of characteristics of flow through pipes, orifices and various notches fixed in channels, Raynolds experiments etc, are conducted in this section. 
 
 
Fluid Machines section 
Students are exposed to technical aspects of Hydraulic turbines such as Kaplan turbine, Francis turbine and Pelton Wheel and pumps such as Centrifugal pump, Self priming pump, Reciprocating pump, Gear pump, Hydraulic ram etc besides doing experiments to analyse the performance characteristics in this section. 
This is one of the best Hydraulics lab facility in the state of Kerala.

Workshops 
Fitting and Carpentry 
The Workshops includes elementary and basic concepts of practical side of Mechanical Engineering. In the carpentry section students undergo training in making wooden joints and shapes. In the fitting section students practice making metallic joints and shapes by filing and cutting small metal specimen. Floor area – 300 m2 


Foundry and Smithy 

In the smithy section students are trained to make different metal shapes like bolt head etc by heating the specimen in the furnace and forging it on the anvil. 
In the foundry section students practice making sand moulds which enables casting of metal. Students practice welding in the welding section.The basic workshop practice is done in the first year of the B -Tech course which is common to all branches. Floor area – 420 m

Machine Shops

Machine Shop - I 
In Machine shop-I students modify their working skills and study metal cutting principles in machine tools like Lathe, Drilling machine etc. Students also acquaint with various measurement devices and study standards of measurements and metrology. 



CNC Laboratory 
Machine shop – I also includes CNC laboratory. It is designed according to the state of the art technology and offers training on CNC Trainer lathe and 3 axis Milling Machine. 
Floor area – 470 m2 








Machine Shop II 
In Machine shop-II students develop their skills on work models to learn operations like milling, slotting, shaping grinding and planning in machine tools like, Milling machines, Slotting machines, Shaping machines,Surface grinding machines and Planning machines. 
Floor area –250 m



Mechanical Measurements Laboratory 
Few important equipments available in this laboratory are:- 

  • Toolmakers microscope
  • Autocollimator 
  • Pneumatic Comparator 
  • Stroboscope
  • Digital Calipers
  • Water meter test apparatus
  • Dead weight pressure gauge tester
