ASME MACE

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a globally recognized professional organization dedicated to setting engineering standards and nurturing innovation, ethical practices, and collaboration among engineers. With a mission to develop well-rounded, technically proficient, and ethically responsible engineers, ASME offers countless opportunities for personal and professional growth beyond the classroom. The ASME MACE Student Section at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering (MACE), Kothamangalam, is a dynamic embodiment of this mission.

Since its establishment in 2019, ASME MACE has consistently grown, offering students enriching experiences that transcend academic boundaries while upholding ASME’s internationally accepted standards. Over the past five years, the section has risen to prominence on the global stage, frequently securing top positions on the ASME student leaderboard and competing with renowned institutions worldwide.

ASME MACE is particularly active in fostering student skills in areas such as robotics, 3D design and printing, extended reality, programming, autonomous systems, drone development, design thinking, and human-powered vehicle design. Additionally, students develop crucial non-technical competencies including leadership, teamwork, event organization, documentation, and effective presentation. The section has received several prestigious accolades, including the Distinguished Student Section Award, Student Chair Award, and Faculty Advisor Award in the ASME India region for both 2023 and 2024. ASME MACE students have secured top honors in both national and international competitions, bringing widespread recognition, media coverage, and substantial prize money to the campus.

The most notable is the Charles T. Main Student Leadership Award, presented to Gopika Anilkumar Pillai, Chair of ASME MACE 2025. This distinguished honor includes a $3,000 stipend and travel support to attend the award ceremony in the United States. In addition to competition success, several members have been awarded ASME scholarships.

These accomplishments underscore the dedication, creativity, and teamwork of MACE students, consistently guided by the unwavering support of faculty advisors Dr. Bobin Cherian Jos and Dr. Kora T. Sunny. Their mentorship plays a crucial role in maintaining the excellence and impact of the section’s initiatives. ASME MACE also maintains a strong collaboration with premier institutions, co-hosting impactful events on the MACE campus each year. With a solid foundation and a forward-thinking approach, ASME MACE continues to empower the next generation of engineers through learning, innovation, and global engagement.
