The Department of Computer Applications in collaboration with Ernest & Young, Viswasanthi Foundation and the Training and Placement Cell, MACE, organized a two-day hands-on workshop titled “Internet of Things: From Concept to Creation” on August 6 and 10, 2026, at the MCA Computer Lab.
Led by resource person Mr. Aby Paul Varghese, Associate Director of the IoT Division at EY, the program provided students with an end-to-end practical experience in building and deploying real-world IoT systems. Participants were organized into nine teams equipped with ESP32/Arduino microcontrollers, sensors, buzzers, and LEDs to program hardware using the Arduino IDE and collect real-time data. One team operated as the central server unit, hosting ThingsBoard inside a local Docker container. The remaining eight client teams transmitted live sensor data over a local IoT hotspot to custom, real-time dashboards designed for each group.
The workshop concluded on August 10 with final project presentations where teams demonstrated their end-to-end data pipelines and live dashboard visualizations. The hands-on course successfully bridged classroom theory with industry practices, equipping students with technical skills in networking, microcontrollers, Docker and IoT data visualization.
The department officially inaugurated the class commencement and launched a three-day Induction Programme for the incoming MCA 2026–2028 batch on August 31, 2026, at the MCA Seminar Hall. The event was formally inaugurated by Mr. Johney Varghese, Vice President of the Services Division at Kalkitech.
The Department of Computer Applications recently concluded a five-day workshop titled 'Cloud Computing - Basics to Virtual Machines' for its third semester students of the 2024-26 batch. A total of 57 students participated in the comprehensive program, which ran from August 28 to August 31, 2025, following an inaugural session on August 23. The workshop was designed to provide students with practical experience in the essential concepts of cloud technology.
The department celebrated the beginning of a new academic journey for its 2025-27 batch with a class commencement programme. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Rajeev Srinivas, Head of the Academic Alliances Group at TCS.
