Course Overview: This course aims to provide an additional learning opportunity to students that bridge theoretical knowledge and practical application in industrial automation. Students will better understand how robotics systems are designed and integrated into modern manufacturing environments to enhance flexibility and productivity. Through the study of robot kinematics, control strategies, and path planning, preparing them to contribute to the evolving landscape of Industry 4.0.
The objectives of the course include:
• Understand Robotics Fundamentals: Gain knowledge of basic robotics concepts, including types, components, and an introduction to industrial robots.
• Learn Robot Kinematics: Introducing the basic theory of robot kinematics, including forward, inverse, and differential kinematics for motion analysis and control.
• Master Path Planning Techniques: Explore path generation algorithms and various methods utilizing CAD/CAM tools to simulate and design robotic paths.
• Develop Practical Skills in Robot Programming: Learn to set up robots for manufacturing tasks and program the industrial robot.
• Experience Hands-on Training: Get exposure to virtual robotics through RobotStudio software, participate in lab visits at IIT Madras, and work on real-time project assignments.
