FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS

Dr. Biju B, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering was nominated as Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Kerala by Honorable Governor of Kerala.

Prof. Bobin Cherian Jos, Prof. Kiran Christopher, Mr. Aadith Suresh, Mr. Govind P. Lal, and Mr. Don Tony Joseph of Department of Mechanical Engineering have been granted an Innovation Patent for 20 years by the Government of India for their invention: Gearless Propeller Power Transmission Mechanism. The project, undertaken by the 2023 B.Tech batch, aimed to support the fishing community by improving the functionality of their conventional propellers.

Dr. Hareesh Krishnan H, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering was awarded Ph.D. degree in Energy and Environment from NIT Tiruchirappalli.

Dr. Bobin Cherian Jos, faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty Advisor of ASME MACE, received an Honorary Mention for the prestigious Outstanding Student Section Advisor Award, constituted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). This global-level recognition is a testament to his exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication, and outstanding service in guiding and mentoring the student community. The award includes a $500 cash award, plaque, and certificate, symbolizing the appreciation of his valuable contributions on an international stage.

Dr. Deepak Eldho Babu was granted an Indian patent for design of Lithium – Ion cell shredder

Dr. Kora T Sunny won the Faculty All Star Supporter Award of the ASME India Student Section Recognition Program 2023 - 24.

Prakash M Kallanickal is honoured for designing and fabricating a tree transplanting machine, ‘Tree Spade”. The “Tree Spade” is used to transplant trees of up to 15 cm trunk diameter. It is hydraulically operated and fitted to a backhoe loader.

Prof. Kiran Christopher got CERD Funding of Rs. 50,000/- for the “Autorotating seed inspired Mechanism for Aid Drop in Disaster Struck Regions” project.

Dr. Roja Abraham Raju from the Mechanical Engineering Department was elected as the Student’s Chair of the Cochin Division of ISHRAE

Prof. Kiran Christopher got CERD Funding totalling Rs. 1,50,000 from APJAKTU for three consecutive Academic years (2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25)

Dr. Vinod Yeldho Baby was awarded Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Madras.

Dr. Cijo Mathew was awarded Ph.D. degree in Production Engineering from NIT Tiruchirappalli.

Dr. Vinod Eldho Baby secured the best student oral presentation award at the 34th International Symposium in Korea on Shock Waves for an outstanding presentation titled “ Regular Reflection to Mach Reflection (RR- MR) Transition in Short Wedges”.

Dr. Cijo Mathew secured the best short invited lecture award at the International Conference on Macromolecules (ICM 2024), hosted by the International and Inter-University Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (IIUCNN) at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

Prof. Eldho Paul secured Prime Ministers Research Fellowship for research work in Robotics and Automation at IIT Madras.

American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME- MACE) secured the ASME India Faculty all-star supporter award to Dr. Bobin Cherian Jos.

Prof. Jijo Johnson secured Prime Minister's Research Fellowship for research work on Ice Nucleation at IIT Madras.

Gautham Sanjayan, Final Year Mechanical Engineering Student (2022 26 batch) received ASME Foundation Scholarship worth $1000.

Sivada K S, Secretary- ASME MACE and Final Year Mechanical Engineering Student (2022 -26 batch) received ASME Foundation Scholarship worth $1000.

𝙅𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙋𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙤𝙢 𝙏𝙤𝙢, S8MB (2021 25 Batch) selected as a winner of the ICRA SPRISE travel grant, sponsored by IEEE RAS, to attend prestigious 𝗜𝗘𝗘𝗘 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗜𝗖𝗥𝗔) held in 𝗔𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮, 𝗨𝗦𝗔.

Hari A R, S6 Mechanical Engineering student, was selected for the prestigious CSIR-SERC, Prof. G.S. Ramaswamy Summer Internship in Chennai Out of many applicants nationwide, Hari is one of just 10 students selected from India! His hard work, passion, and perseverance have truly paid off.

𝗚𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗸𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗶, a final-year Mechanical Engineering student, has been awarded the prestigious 𝗔𝗦𝗠𝗘 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗧. 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱. This esteemed honour, instituted in 1925 by the 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨 (ASME), is presented annually to 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹. In its 100th year, it is a matter of immense pride that 𝙖𝙣 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 — and that student is a MACEian The award includes a 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗼𝗳 $𝟯𝟬𝟬𝟬, 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗶𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹, a certificate and 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦𝗔.

ASME EFX India 2025 – Mr. Bharath Kumar, Final year Mechanical Engineering, won 1st Prize ($250) in the national level Elevator Pitch competition held at Reva University, Bangalore during March 27 – 29, 2025

ASME EFX India 2025 - Team MACE (Bravos), Led by Naveen P, Third-year Mechanical Engineering, won first Prize ($250) in the national level e-HPVC (Electric Human powered Vehicle Challenge) – Endurance Category held at Reva University, Bangalore during March 27 – 29, 2025

SAE- Team MACE (NOVA), Led by Arjun Raju, Final Year Mechanical Engineering, won All India Rank 3 and Kerala First in SAE Drone Design competition 2025 held at Chennai during March 28-30, 2025

Mr. Arjun Raju, final year Mechanical Engineering student won the 1st Prize ($300) in the Technical Poster Presentation conducted globally in the ASME E-Fest Tech Connect 2025.

Team Mavericks of MACE (Jerom Palimattom Tom, Abu Fahad & Siyad M N) won 1st Prize ($250) in the Extended Reality Challenge (Lunar Lander) conducted globally in the ASME E-Fest Tech Connect 2025.

EBaja 2025

Team Influx from SAE MACE led by Josfin K Martin from fourth year Mechanical, excelled at eBaja 2025 in Hyderabad, held from February 20–23, demonstrating technical expertise and perseverance. They cleared Electrical TI on their second attempt and Mechanical TI in their first try, earning unlimited brake tests for optimization. The team competed in Brake, Rainstorm, and Endurance Tests, achieving top results in the All Kerala category. Their standout performances earned them 2nd place in Design and CAE Evaluation, and 3rd in Endurance. Their success highlighted both skill and teamwork in this prestigious competition.

HBaja 2025

Team Falcons, led by Benson Shaju from fourth year Mechanical, from SAE MACE made their mark at HBaja 2025 in Pithampur (Jan 7–12), competing among India's top teams. They ranked 11th nationally in Prelims, excelling in Sales (AIR 7) and Cost (AIR 9). Their engineering innovation earned AIR 10 in Design and AIR 12 in Technical Inspection. The team aced dynamic events like Brake, HCNG Kit, and Endurance Tests. Their consistent performance secured an outstanding Overall AIR 10, showcasing technical excellence and teamwork.

FKDC 2025

Team Inferno from SAE MACE achieved a historic victory at the Formula Kart Design Competition in Chennai. Their cutting-edge kart design demonstrated superior engineering innovation and technical mastery. Competing against top national teams, they claimed the championship title with All India Rank (AIR) 1. This remarkable accomplishment highlights MACE's excellence in automotive engineering education. The win sets a new benchmark for future SAE competition participants.
