Kothamangalam is a town lying at the foothills of the Western Ghats and is known as ‘The Gateway to the High ranges.’

Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary (Salim Ali Wild Life Sanctuary), Thattekkad, 14 km from Kothamangalam, is home to some rare species of birds. Exotic birds flock to this sanctuary and make this place a haven for any ornithologist.
Bhoothathan Kettu is a good picnic spot located 10 km from Kothamangalam. There is a dam here, and one can go boating in the adjoining reservoir. Trekking through the forest to the old Bhoothathan Kettu is very interesting. The forest offers a wide variety of flora and fauna and is a botanist's delight. Munnar, the famous tourist destination, is 80 km from Kothamangalam.


How to reach

Kothamangalam is well connected by road from all parts of Kerala State. State Transport buses are available from Kottayam and Ernakulam (Kochi) via Muvattupuzha. State Transport and Private Transport buses are available from Ernakulam, Aluva, and Angamali via Perumbavoor.

The institution is by the side of the Cochin-Dhanushkodi National Highway (NH 49) at a distance of only 45 km from Ernakulam and 32 km from the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery, near Angamali.
