Technological development takes place when the theory and practice go hand in hand. Cutting edge technology should transfer to practice and information from practice should be transferred to theory. Keeping this in view All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) initiated several schemes in technical institutions all over India. In lieu with this concept, considering the environmental concern of the society, AICTE sanctioned a unique unit “WATER SCIENCE, ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT CELL” under their ‘Industry institution Participation’ Scheme at M.A. College of Engineering, Kothamangalam in 2006. The objective of the WSEM Cell is to reduce the gap between field expectations (practice) and academic offerings (theory) by direct involvement of industry to attain a symbiosis. Hence WSEM Cell serves as a platform to interact between the academy and practicing professionals with mutually benefiting activities.
